Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in egg, yolk, and vanilla.

  2. 2

Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

  3. 3

Chill dough 30 minutes (or up to 3 days for deeper flavor).

  4. 4

Scoop 2-tablespoon balls onto parchment-lined sheets. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.

  5. 5

Cool 5 minutes on the tray, then transfer to a wire rack. The centers finish setting as they cool.

Pro tip: Pull the cookies out when the edges are golden but the centers still look slightly underbaked — they'll stay soft and chewy.
